DROPOUT FROM A DISTINGUISHED UNIVERSITY WRITES

To abandon a reputed institution that millions in the country or the world aspire to be in is akin to cocking a snook at the long-established system of education in the country, to take for granted the invaluable, the treasured wisdom and intelligence you have been bestowed with by the big centres of specific training that religiously make headlines after every national exam in the country. More so if you are one of those individuals who barely managed to get into a mediocre institution and still chose to discontinue you are sure to be labeled a thankless lunatic.

A man of reasonable prudence would definitely find the above statements ridiculously false.  The harsh reality is in fact worse than one could possibly imagine.

One would even go far enough to agree that any establishment of thought that promotes the idea of discontinuing a stream of studies that one cannot acquaint himself or herself to, for want of a better career opportunity awaits a dystopian future. Therefore it has been a long standing tradition for these self assumed career consultants to make bleak predictions of their future sometimes, even turning him into a permanent recluse.

As a young teen who has gone through the aftermath of the apparent cardinal sin of dropping out, I have come across innumerable remarks questioning my decision to drop out of a course of studies which was apparently multidimensional and simply great for anyone to even aspire. Inspecting with great suspicion my letter for transfer certificate, the few authorities present there drew a bleak image of my future and narrowed the avenues of the course I was to pursue to zilch.

The process of taking the decision itself is a mind-numbing and an emotionally draining process wherein one might feel the the efforts put in so far seems like having carried coal to Newcastle.

It would be utopian and senseless to imagine a society where the decision to quit a job that provides a handsome salary or a job that promises a secure future is appreciated as an unapologetically brash decision that only few dare to take.

The least one can do is to not tear these ‘dropouts’ apart and examine every iota of their decision. The most exciting aspect of the right-thinking individuals, the caretakers of society, is that these are the very same people whose social media profiles would be flooded with inspirational messages and stories of people who made it from scratch. Our society truly offers real-life examples of hypocrites.

The motivation to succeed and find success from the new path you are to explore, definitely is least affected by these unintelligent remarks that are not even worthy of being recalled let alone reiterated.

The one solid reason at least I can provide with is when one of the core members of the faculty defined and elaborated in length why their institution offered a multi-dimensional course of studies. It brought reputation, honour and respect among your tiny group of family and friends. You become the sole example of a student in its right senses for your youngsters, precisely an individual who would manage to earn fair amounts of disaffection and loathe among the younger peers. If at all required the institution also offered the scope of a degree. All you can do is listen to these pearls of wisdom with a slight grin and if at all required take them with a pinch of salt.
